There is light at the end of the tunnelChanges after experiencing a stroke are often abrupt and severe, ranging from impaired speech, a slowed ability to communicate to not even being able to walk or recall our precious memories.
Luckily, the ONLY injured part of your body is within your brain. The rest of your disabilities are not actually what they appear to be. With the right action taken to heal the brain, the rest will follow through. Our brain has an incredible ability to adjust and even reconnect neurological pathways through an ability called neuroplasticity.
YOU are in charge of your recovery. While therapists and clinicians have your best interest in mind, they have only so much time to work with you. With therapeutic and engaging brain games that are scientifically proven to improve physical and cognitive abilities of stroke patients, you can independently give yourself the greatest potential for recovery next to your scheduled time with a specialist.
5. Fractals: Form, Chance and Dimension
Author: by Benoit B. Mandelbrot
Echo Point Books & Media
English
384 pages
Discover the Hidden Mathematics of Modern Geometry Fractals, the never-ending geometric-mathematical patterns existing throughout nature, are revealed in the shapes of continents, galaxies, snowflakes, and grains of sand. In this fascinating and seminal volume, renowned pioneering-mathematician Benoit B. Mandelbrot explains his work on fractal geometry, mathematically translating the description of these complex shapes of nature.
Until Mandelbrot developed the concept of fractal geometry in the 1960s and 70s, most mathematicians believed these irregular shapes were too fragmented and amorphous to be described mathematically. Mandelbrot’s revolutionary concept brought order to a variety of seemingly unsolvable problems in physics, biology, and financial markets.
Broad in application, this groundbreaking work will inform not just mathematicians, but anyone that appreciates the natural elegance of patterns made manifest. Featuring illustrations of mathematically defined shapes, Mandelbrot describes how geometric patterns relate to every aspect of the physical world around us.

9. Non-Linear Elastic Deformations (Dover Civil and Mechanical Engineering)
Author: by R. W. Ogden
Dover Publications
English
560 pages
This meticulous and precise account of the theory of finite elasticity fills a significant gap in the literature. The book is concerned with the mathematical theory of non-linear elasticity, the application of this theory to the solution of boundary-value problems (including discussion of bifurcation and stability) and the analysis of the mechanical properties of solid materials capable of large elastic deformations.
The setting is purely isothermal and no reference is made to thermodynamics. For the most part attention is restricted to the quasi-static theory, but some brief relevant discussion of time-dependent problems is included. Especially coherent and well written, Professor Ogden’s book includes not only all the basic material but many unpublished results and new approaches to existing problems.
In part the work can be regarded as a research monograph but, at the same time, parts of it are also suitable as a postgraduate text. Problems designed to further develop the text material are given throughout and some of these contain statements of new results.
10. The Fourier Transform: A Tutorial Introduction
Author: by James V Stone
Sebtel Press
English
103 pages
The Fourier transform is a fundamental tool in the physical sciences, with applications in communications theory, electronics, engineering, biophysics and quantum mechanics. In this brief book, the essential mathematics required to understand and apply Fourier analysis is explained. The tutorial style of writing, combined with over 60 diagrams, offers a visually intuitive and rigorous account of Fourier methods.
Hands-on experience is provided in the form of simple examples, written in Python and Matlab computer code. Supported by a comprehensive Glossary and an annotated list of Further Readings, this represents an ideal introduction to the Fourier transform.
11. Fractal Geometry: Mathematical Foundations and Applications
Author: by Kenneth Falconer
Wiley
English
398 pages
The seminal text on fractal geometry for students and researchers: extensively revised and updated with new material, notes and references that reflect recent directions. Interest in fractal geometry continues to grow rapidly, both as a subject that is fascinating in its own right and as a concept that is central to many areas of mathematics, science and scientific research.
Since its initial publication in 1990 Fractal Geometry: Mathematical Foundations and Applications has become a seminal text on the mathematics of fractals. The book introduces and develops the general theory and applications of fractals in a way that is accessible to students and researchers from a wide range of disciplines.
Fractal Geometry: Mathematical Foundations and Applications is an excellent course book for undergraduate and graduate students studying fractal geometry, with suggestions for material appropriate for a first course indicated. The book also provides an invaluable foundation and reference for researchers who encounter fractals not only in mathematics but also in other areas across physics, engineering and the applied sciences.

14. An Introduction to Hilbert Space and Quantum Logic (Problem Books in Mathematics)
Author: by David W. Cohen
Springer
English
149 pages
Historically, nonclassical physics developed in three stages. First came a collection of ad hoc assumptions and then a cookbook of equations known as “quantum mechanics”. The equations and their philosophical underpinnings were then collected into a model based on the mathematics of Hilbert space.
From the Hilbert space model came the abstaction of “quantum logics”. This book explores all three stages, but not in historical order. Instead, in an effort to illustrate how physics and abstract mathematics influence each other we hop back and forth between a purely mathematical development of Hilbert space, and a physically motivated definition of a logic, partially linking the two throughout, and then bringing them together at the deepest level in the last two chapters.
This book should be accessible to undergraduate and beginning graduate students in both mathematics and physics. The only strict prerequisites are calculus and linear algebra, but the level of mathematical sophistication assumes at least one or two intermediate courses, for example in mathematical analysis or advanced calculus.
